Questions

Underground shelter FAQs

What's the difference between garage-underground and yard in-ground?
Garage-underground installs beneath your garage slab and is accessed from inside the home. Yard in-ground installs in your yard and is accessed by a sealed exterior hatch. Both deliver equivalent EF5-rated protection, the choice is about access preference and site feasibility.
How long does an underground installation take?
Most underground installations are 2–4 days on-site, depending on excavation depth, soil conditions, and whether we're cutting into an existing slab.
Will excavation damage my yard or driveway?
We restore the surrounding slab, sod, or landscaping at completion. Site disturbance is contained to the dig footprint and access path.
Can I install an underground shelter in an existing garage?
Yes, retrofit garage-underground installs are common. We saw-cut the slab, excavate, place the shelter, and pour a new slab over it with the access hatch flush to floor level.
What about water intrusion?
Every underground shelter is sealed and ventilated to prevent water intrusion. We confirm water-table depth at the site survey before excavation begins.
